The discussions come amid efforts to reach a new agreement with Tehran and growing concern in Washington over continued Chinese support for the Iranian regime.

Activists also held banners praising Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, including calling him "King of Iran," according to footage taken at the scenes.

The Monday protest comes following a similar event on Tuesday, after which PAL-Awda said it was undeterred.  

The three-day pause, announced on Friday by President Donald Trump, is part of a broader US-led push for peace that has so far failed to end the more than four-year-old war.
